Terrell McKinney was born in Omaha and graduated from Omaha North High Magnet School. He achieved recognition as a Nebraska state wrestling champion and an NCAA Division II All-American. McKinney holds a B.S. in sports business management from Maryville University and an MBA from Midland University. He has spent time as a wrestling coach and is currently attending Creighton University School of Law. McKinney has experience as a community organizer and hunger action advocate with Nebraska Appleseed, and he serves on the boards of Black Men United and Policy Research Innovation.
