Seabury Ford graduated from Yale University and commenced his legal career under Judge Peter Hitchcock. He became involved in the state militia, rising to the rank of major general. Ford was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives and later served in the Ohio State Senate. He was elected governor of Ohio, serving a single term amidst significant challenges. Post-governorship, Ford suffered a stroke and paralysis, eventually passing away in Burton, Ohio.
