Ryan Lauer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and biochemistry from Indiana University Bloomington. He has extensive experience in technical support, having worked for Kiva Networking and BlueMarble Telecom, and has also contributed as a violinist in the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. Lauer founded Lauer Technology in 2004 and served as a technical specialist for Cummins. His leadership roles include being elected to the Bartholomew County Council in 2010, where he served as President, and he was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in November 2018, where he currently serves as vice chair of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee.
