During World War II, she served in the U.S. Naval Reserve, earning the American Campaign Medal. Post-military, Kulp transitioned to politics, serving on the Screen Actors Guild board and running for Congress. After her political campaign, she contributed to academia as an artist-in-residence and acting instructor.
