Following his undergraduate studies, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. Gabler served in various leadership roles within the Army, including command of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 424th Multifunctional Medical Battalion, and as a medical logistics officer for the 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He deployed to the Middle East, where he provided mission command for troops supporting Operation Spartan Shield, and was promoted to Major during his deployment. Gabler's early political career began as a research analyst for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Republican caucus, followed by six terms as an elected representative, before deciding not to seek reelection in 2020.
