Luz Maria Rivas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and a Master of Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She began her career in technology before transitioning to public service. Rivas founded a non-profit aimed at encouraging girls in STEM fields and served on Los Angeles' City Public Works Commission. She has demonstrated leadership in various capacities, including representing California’s 29th Congressional District.
