He spent most of his adult life as a corporate attorney before transitioning to public service roles. Rothfus has served on the board of directors for the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania and was a member of the Edgeworth, Pennsylvania zoning board. He resides with his wife and six children in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
