Holstein has held leadership roles within the Republican Party, serving as chairman of the Boone County Republican Executive Committee and a member of the West Virginia Republican State Executive Committee. In 2020, he successfully ran for the West Virginia House of Delegates, defeating an incumbent, and was subsequently elected Chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party in 2025.
