He began his career in public service as a Special Assistant to the Erie County Commissioner of Public Works and later served as a liaison to the Erie County Legislature. Rivera's experience in the private sector includes a role as a Licensed Sales Professional at HSBC Bank, where he managed multiple branches. He has also served as a Field Representative for Congressman Brian Higgins. Rivera currently holds a position as a New York State Assemblymember for the 149th Assembly District, where he has chaired the Administrative Regulations Review Committee and the Subcommittee on Regional Tourism Development.
