Janelle Anyanonu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in applied sciences from Wayland Baptist University and graduated from Manzano High School. She spent several years in roles that honed her administrative and organizational skills, including serving as an office manager. Anyanonu has demonstrated leadership through her involvement with the New Mexico Black Central Organizing Committee and her participation in the Emerge America Program, graduating in 2020. Elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in November 2022, she played a pivotal role in the passage of the Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Health Care Freedom Act, which was signed into law on March 13, 2023.
