Chris Stearns holds an academic background from prestigious institutions, including Lawrenceville School, Williams College, and Cornell Law School. Early in his career, he held significant roles in both the public and non-profit sectors, such as director of Indian affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy and chair of the Washington State Gambling Commission. His leadership experience also includes serving on the City of Seattle's Human Rights Commission and as president of the Seattle Indian Health Board. Stearns transitioned into elected office, being elected to the Auburn City Council, from which he stepped down after being elected to the state House.
